"You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of." - Jim Rohn
The seasons they are a changin'! Here in the Midwest we are blessed to have 4 wonderful seasons, each brings change and beauty in new ways. Today on this beautiful autumn day, I like to reflect on change in so many ways. Not only life, but in nature and art as well.
We must continue to practice 'gratitude'. That simple little act every day will make our lives better...really...try it! So as changes in career and life, I can't be thankful enough to all of those that supported my decision to close my studio/gallery in the UP and open my new gallery in Door County. It truly was a good business decision and I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful artists in this great little area called Door County! My life and home is still in Michigan though where I'm surrounded by my friends and family, horses, gardens, orchard and BIG studio!
The changes in nature are breathtakingly beautiful and continue to inspire my work/art. It is the refreshing look, feel and change of our surroundings that breathe new life into an artists work. We have 'eyes' that see subtle nuances, textures and colors in nature that some people just don't understand. Our world is a beautiful place!
The changes in my art over the years were big, ranging from representational to collage to where I'm at now and hope to stay, Abstracted Minimalist Landscapes. Each of the 'stages' and changes occurred for a reason, to get me to this oil minimalist place that brings my soul peace. Each day in the studio is an enjoyable time for the most part. Each day in the studio can be different, changes happen fast, sometimes everything just 'flows' when you are painting, sometimes just the opposite, but no matter what artists that succeed continue to work through those ebb's and flows in their art as well as in life.
Enjoy this autumn season and all the glorious color!
Autumn really, really inspires my artwork!
Spending time in nature is an important part of life for an artist!
I am grateful for the beauty of nature that surrounds me!
