This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting beautiful Marquette, Michigan and as always stopped to see the exhibit at the DeVos Art Museum on the NMU campus. The show's last weekend featured Mariel
Versluis and her larger than life woodcut, drawing and mixed media pieces featuring horses. Seldom do we see in this area artwork based on the horse, and being a horse lover/owner myself, I was totally in awe and taken back with the deep meaning in these pieces. This photo of a sculpture was taken on last years trip to Santa Fe outside a beautiful gallery in the Railroad District...sorry I do not know the artist, but LOVED the sculpture!
