"I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order." - John Burroughs
Even though it's a Saturday and most 'working people' may relish this day to sleep in/relax/get house projects done etc.......I, could not keep myself out of the studio today. I think it is this brilliant sunshine that is streaming through the studio window telling me today is a great day, take advantage of it!
The last couple weeks, I have been working on my 'January projects' which include photographing and inventorying new works, organizing studio space, working on a new power point presentation for my demo at Artisan in Santa Fe in March, updating my bio/statement as well as teaching a few workshops and getting down and dirty painting...(yes, I ruin a lot of clothes!)
I have been fortunate enough to hit a 'good groove' with my work and I like to keep the momentum going once I get in that groove...so this morning I shall paint then this afternoon I shall play!
What do you have planned for your weekend...anything creative? Enjoy!
This painting is titled "Early morning" and is 36x40".

"You have to commit to your work" - Susan Rothenberg
It's January. It's cold outside. It's the perfect time of year to be getting some true 'painting time' in the studio. I am lucky.
All these years of painting, working hard, playing and growing are now taking shape and molding my 'little art life' into a complete circle...one that I intend to keep rolling on. I just received confirmation in the mail today that I will be a featured artist at Edgewood Orchard Galleries in Door County, WI for their September show! WOW! That's big news and I AM SO EXCITED! So now I know that I must continue to be serious about my work and paint-on (that's never been a problem for me - I do take this very seriously and am very committed to my work!)
Nobody ever said, though, that art would be easy. It can be challenging, demanding, exhausting....I could go on; BUT it is very satisfying, fulfilling and completing...to see your work being bought up by collectors to display in their beautiful homes. YES, the life of an artist can be truly UNBELIEVABLE!
Thank you to all of those who have and are helping me on this artistic journey!
