"To make art is to sing with the human voice. To do this you must first learn that the only voice you need is the voice you already have. Art work is ordinary work, but it takes courage to embrace that work, and wisdom to mediate the interplay of art & fear." - from Art and Fear by David Bayles & Ted Orland
I used my human voice a lot this weekend. A gathering with friends, lots of talking and enjoying company, something I don't get to do every day as I work quite solitary in my studio. Although I am thankful for the solitude - it's really how I get anything done, it is nice to chat with friends.
Many decisions and shifts are coming upon me and my art, the direction is exciting and I must remember to not let fear stop me - I must re-read this book.
