projects in the works

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

I just returned from the Art on the Rocks art fair in Marquette, MI. Weather was terrible, but calilbur of artists work was exceptional. Met so many artists from around the country (texas, maryland, minnesota, florida) all with a passion for the very talented works! I am constantly reminding myself to stay true to my artwork. Currently, 2d wall paintings are the hardest to sell, we all must remember to hang in there.
Currently, I am putting together an invitational show at my studio/gallery for labor day weekend featuring local artists/friends. It's always a fun show with a fabulous turnout. I also am thrilled because I just had 2 pieces accepted into the Neville Public Museum in Green Bay, WI - annual art show which opens in August. What an honor.
I'm interested in encaustic again and would like to get "in the garage" on a nice summer day and play with hot wax! and see what happens. Here is an image from some encaustic work I did last summer.

small ones

I'm not getting as much time this summer to paint as I would like to, but that's ok. I have, however, been working on my mixed media 4 x 4 mini's which are very popular right now. I plan to relax this weekend and start gearing up next week for my next art fair - Marquette Art on the Rocks, July 25, 26. This show is always one of my favorites, listed as one of the top in the country it draws artists from all over!

new ideas

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

I feel like ideas are bouncing around in my head like ping pong balls. It truly must mean that I haven't had enough studio time. I've been busy with my show schedule and wrapping up odds and ends but hope to get in the studio to paint today.
