delivered work

Saturday, February 28, 2009

This week I delivered the artwork to the Oasis Gallery in Marquette for my solo show titled "Mixed Messages". The opening reception is Friday, March 6 from 7-9 pm et. I beleive the curators are hanging the show today - all are new pieces and I can't wait to see them in the beautiful gallery space.
I am reading another good book titled "elaine and bill" which talks more about elaine and bill dekooning and their life as artists, together. Also watched a good movie last night "Basquiat" about a new york graffiti artist who actually made it. I really loved his artwork and seeing his gallery shows, however, he did not handle his "fame" too well.
Yesterday, cleaned the studio, (or started to) and went for a beautiful snowshoe ride through the woods behind our home - going again this afternoon even though it is cold!

horse series - finally

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

I have had this "want" to do a mixed media series on horses, in particular our horses and of course with text from my journal about events with our horses, in particular the freedom sound of their running outside my bedroom window on a night of "escapee ism". Finally tackled the start of that series and like the first one which will be shown at The Oasis Gallery in Marquette during my solo show entitled "mixed message" new works by Ginnie Cappaert" The opening reception is friday, March 6 7-9 pm. I'm also enclosing a shot of my studio which is a mess, but portrays some of the pieces also going into the show. Also plan to start a new book titled Elaine & Bill which I borrowed from my artist/friend Candace and tonight will be a good book night as the winds are howling and the snow is drifting.

wonderful evening concert

Saturday, February 7, 2009

I had a wonderful evening with my husband at a wild rice concert last night. Featured musicians were Krista Detor and Peter Mulvey - AWESOME! Back in studio today even though it's warming up outside. Will paint for awhile and then go for a horse ride!
Here's a close up from one of my new pieces which I would like to practice manipulating on the computer - love the strong, direct colors.
Have also been working on some smaller pieces which I will post at a later time.

Valentines Day is Coming

Monday, February 2, 2009

Valentines Day is coming, get your sweetheart treats ready. I found a mixed media from last year in the heart series.

I started a class at the local college in digital design and I'm really excited about expanding my computer knowledge and interfacing it with my artwork. I've been working on a new series "I think I love you" which features a brighter color palette here is a start of one that is still in the works/thought process
woopsie - it's sideways - see, that's why I am in that class - I'll have to figure this out later.
Anyway as winter is continuing to be cold, I am happily creating more artwork for the summer season.
